Henderson is preparing to host the first PWHL games in Nevada history, a milestone that adds women’s professional hockey to the valley’s increasingly crowded sports calendar. The Hockey News reported that the city, home to the AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights, will welcome the preseason action.

That matters in a market already used to big-league arrivals. Henderson has spent years building a sports identity around the Silver Knights and the arena district, and the PWHL’s visit broadens the city’s profile with a league that has quickly become one of the most watched new properties in North American sports.

For residents, the games bring another live-event option closer to home. For newcomers, they add to the sense that Henderson is no longer just a suburban outpost of Las Vegas, but a destination with its own calendar and its own fan base.

The preseason stop also signals how the valley continues to diversify beyond the Strip. Hockey, especially women’s hockey, gives Southern Nevada another way to claim a place in the national sports conversation.
